Bali Investor KITAS Documentation Check Service

An investor ITAS or KITAS in Indonesia is granted to a foreign national on the strength of their shareholding or directorship in an Indonesian company, which means the company’s corporate file matters as much as the individual’s passport. Our investor KITAS documentation check reviews both sides together before anything is submitted through official immigration channels, so gaps surface at your desk rather than at the counter.

This service is aimed at foreign shareholders and directors of a PT PMA operating in Bali or elsewhere in Indonesia. We organise, cross-check and sequence the paperwork. We are not an immigration agency or a law firm, we do not file on your behalf, and no private party can promise that a permit will be granted.

Why do investor permit files fail on company documents?

An investor permit is derived from a corporate position, so immigration is effectively reading the company and the applicant at the same time — and the two records must agree exactly on name spelling, shareholding, position and address. In practice most returned files are not rejected on the applicant’s eligibility at all; they are sent back because the corporate documents disagree with each other or with the deed on record.

Companies established quickly, restructured after a shareholder change, or maintained by different parties over the years accumulate small inconsistencies: an old address on one document, a former director still named on another, a shareholding percentage that was updated in one place and not another. Those are precisely the details an investor permit file exposes.

Who should use this check?

The review is built for people whose permit depends on a company they own or direct, rather than on an employment contract.

  • Foreign shareholders of an existing PT PMA preparing a first investor permit application
  • Directors and commissioners whose position determines the permit category being sought
  • Investors whose company has changed shareholders, address or business activity since incorporation
  • Permit holders approaching renewal who have not reviewed the corporate file since it was first assembled
  • Applicants weighing an investor route against an employment-sponsored route and needing to see both document loads before deciding

What does the documentation check cover?

Requirements differ by category and are revised periodically, so we work from the current published requirements for your intended route rather than a generic list, and we tell you plainly where a point must be confirmed with immigration directly. The table sets out the blocks we review and what each check is looking for.

Block Source What the check looks for
Deed of establishment and amendments Company Whether the latest amendment reflects current shareholders and directors
Company registration and licensing Company Currency of registrations and whether stated activity matches actual operations
Shareholding evidence Company Consistency of percentages and share values across all documents
Position evidence Company That your title on the permit file matches the title on record
Passport and personal records Applicant Validity, name format, and consistency with corporate records
Address and domicile Both Whether company and personal addresses will still be accurate at reporting stage

How the review runs

The whole engagement is run by our team over WhatsApp and email; you send documents as scans, we return a written review, and there is no software for you to operate. A typical review moves through four stages.

  • Scoping: you tell us your position, shareholding and which route you intend to use
  • Collection: we send a document request list split into corporate and personal blocks
  • Cross-check: we compare every document against the others and against the route’s published requirements
  • Report: you receive an ordered pack plus a written list of inconsistencies, expiries and open questions, ranked by how likely each is to stop the file

Where the review finds something that is not a documentation issue but a structural one — a shareholding that does not support the intended category, or an activity classification that does not match the role — we say so directly and recommend that you take it to licensed counsel or a registered corporate service provider before proceeding.

What we deliberately leave alone

We do not advise on investment thresholds, capital structure, tax residency or company law, and we do not quote official government charges, because those figures are set by regulation and change; read them from official immigration and investment authority publications rather than from any third-party page, including this one. Our role stops at documents: completeness, consistency, sequence and readiness.

We also avoid predicting processing times as if they were fixed. Timelines vary with the office, the category and the completeness of the file, and the only honest statement is that a clean, internally consistent file gives you the best chance of a straightforward run.

Investors frequently arrive at this page after comparing routes. If the alternative under consideration is an employment-based permit, our Bali work KITAS document service sets out that document load side by side. If you are still outside Indonesia and intend to start the process before travelling, read the apply KITAS before entering Indonesia documents page. For background on how the category itself is framed, our journal entry on the investor KITAS rules in Indonesia gives the wider context.

Frequently asked questions

Does owning shares in a PT PMA automatically qualify me for an investor permit?

No. Shareholding is a necessary condition, not a sufficient one: the category has published eligibility criteria covering the company, the shareholding and the applicant’s role, and immigration assesses all of them. Our check shows you whether your documents support the claim you intend to make; whether the claim itself qualifies is decided by immigration and, where the question is legal, by licensed counsel.

My company was set up years ago. Does that matter?

It matters a great deal, and usually in a good way once the file is tidied. Older companies tend to have amendments, address changes and shareholder movements recorded in several documents, and permit files expose any disagreement between them. Reviewing the corporate record before you apply is far cheaper than discovering mid-application that the deed on record no longer reflects reality.

Can you file the application for me?

No. We prepare and check documents only; submission goes through official immigration channels, handled by you, your company, or a licensed party you appoint. We deliberately keep that separation so our review stays independent, and we will tell you when a question belongs with a lawyer or a registered corporate services provider rather than with us.

How much of the file is my responsibility versus the company’s?

Typically the smaller half is yours. Passport, photographs, personal records and address details come from you; deeds, registrations, shareholding evidence and position confirmations come from the company. Because the corporate side is slower to produce, we request it first and keep your personal items running in parallel rather than waiting for one block to finish before starting the other.
