An offshore ITAS/KITAS application is one started while you are still outside Indonesia, so the permit approval is arranged before you travel and your entry is made on that basis rather than as a visitor. Why review paperwork before submitting from abroad?
In an offshore application the sponsor in Indonesia and the applicant abroad are producing documents in parallel, often without ever seeing each other’s files — which is exactly the condition in which names, dates, job titles and addresses drift apart. Frequently asked questions
Is applying offshore better than converting onshore?
Neither is universally better; they suit different situations. Offshore is generally cleaner when a sponsor is already arranged and you have not yet travelled, since you enter with the permit basis established. Onshore conversion suits people already in Indonesia holding a convertible visa whose plans changed after arrival. The deciding factors are where you are now and what you entered on.
How long should I allow before travelling?
Plan around the legalisation chain for your foreign documents, which is usually the longest and least controllable stage, rather than around the immigration steps alone. Booking flights before the permit position is settled is the most common and most costly mistake in offshore applications. Treat travel dates as provisional until you have confirmation, not the other way round.
Can my employer handle everything for me?
An employer can produce the sponsor side and may appoint a licensed party to file, but the applicant’s personal documents — passport, civil records, qualifications, translations — can only be obtained by you. Files stall most often at the seam between the two sides. A review exists precisely to check that seam before submission rather than discovering the mismatch afterwards.
My documents are already prepared. Is a review still worth it?
That is the ideal moment for one. A review of a complete file is faster and more useful than advice on an empty one, because it can test consistency across the whole set rather than predicting problems in the abstract. Most reports on well-prepared files still identify at least one item that would have triggered a query, usually a name format or a document nearing expiry.
